The National Sales Manager must be a dynamic, high-energy individual with proven selling and account management/development skills. They will exhibit exceptional communication skills and have the ability to ensure that key stakeholders within the company receive all relevant sales, customer, and product information during the selling process. This person will be professional and customer oriented, with ability to meet or exceed company annual sales goals. The National Sales Manager will develop new distribution opportunities across multiple retail outlets and find ways to compete in what is often is a single brand or supplier for a category segment and must supplant current supplier in certain situations. This is a Home Based positions so relocation will not be required, just proximity to an airport for travel purposes. This person will have a proven track record of successfully landing large strategic accounts, persistence in selling against strong/well-entrenched competitors and sustaining the business over several years.
Proactive and aggressive in seeking out new customers/channels, and sales opportunities to help build the business.
Manage to meet/exceed annual sales forecasts.
Build strong sales rep and customer relationships, understand and satisfy their needs without compromising the company goals and profit objectives.
Travel as required to attend meetings and various customers’ shows/events.
Manage and lead sales reps (internal or external) toward achievement of sales objectives.
Provide leadership through effective communication of vision, active coaching and development while comparing sales results to goals and taking appropriate action to correct when necessary.
Maintain competitive knowledge to create and adjust sales strategies.
Review and analyze sales performances against programs, quotes and plans to determine effectiveness.
Work with customers and suppliers to develop product offerings to compete for and maintain business.
Lead responses to requests for proposals, prepare pricing (with CFO and President), and create sales presentations.
Ability to impeccably represent the company across a wide range of interactions – in-store retail personnel to key customer merchants/leadership.
Ability to travel as needed.
Demonstrated success in leading the development and commercial execution of a targeted new distribution selling strategy.
Demonstrated success in the training, managing, and selection of independent reps/brokers that manage and lead the selling and operational needs of current distribution across channels.
Demonstrated success in directly selling in through multiple retail channel segments such as mass, hardware, big box DIY, grocery, club, dollar.
