Commercial Insurance Underwriter

This position is an company part of the Commercial Lines Team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify and capture new business opportunities
Underwrite profitable insurance risks in accordance with the business plan to meet business objectives, including negotiating rates, terms and conditions for new business, managing production and documentation, ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations and guidelines, and ensuring contribution to the business plan and objectives.
Increase revenue income year on year for assigned agency plant to meet company goals
Perform underwriting file analysis and ensuring forms accuracy
Effectively manage assigned agents/brokers by developing & maintaining relationships to add & retain accounts within carrier appetites
Meet with key agents/brokers regularly in order to build and maintain relationships
Review policies and forms to ensure they clearly reflect the terms and conditions agreed upon.
Adhere to carriers underwriting standards to ensure profitable growth.
Communicate opportunities for continuous improvement and efficiency.
Train and mentor agency staff on products, services and processes.
Perform other duties and assignments, as assigned.
Ability to meet sales production goals and deliver timely service.

Ability to travel to assigned agents to promote relationship.
Ability to assist in training of other personnel, as needed.
At least five years experience in the insurance industry- surplus or commercial lines.
Bachelors degree preferred.
CPCU, ARM, CIC or industry certification preferred.
